Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary, Sikkim
Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the South Sikkim District. Perched at an altitude of about 10,600ft above the sea level. The sanctuary sprawling over an area of 36 square kilometers and it contains the rich biodiversity. Apart from the wildlife, it also possesses the abounding avifauna, medicinal plants, herbs, and plant species.
Some of the famous inhabitant wildlife species include Red Panda, Goral, Serow, Barking Deer, Marbled-Cat, Leopard-Cat, Magpies, Black Eagle, and Blue-necked Pita, Sunbirds, Blood Pheasant, and Common Hill Partridge.
In addition to the wildlife watching the tourists will be thrilled with the trekking opportunities. Especially adventure junkies would be elated. Also, the tourists can have a glimpse of the Maenam Gumpa the Buddhist Monastery, Lord Shiva Temple and pristine rivulets.
